About Me

I’m Stacy McGrady and I created this space as a place to share my ideas, inspirations, and reflections…which has now evolved into a shop as well, Porch Lemon Kids, where I curate a collection of some of my favorite children’s products to share with other parents.

Porch Lemons & Pearls refers to a Southern porch with fabulous columns and a haint blue ceiling, a refreshing glass of lemonade, and the perfect pair of pearl earrings.  Or the feeling and sentiment found in the perfect moment playing with my “sweet little lemons,” my precious daughters who are so sweet, sprinkled with a tiny bit of toddler tartness 🙂

Background

Born in Columbus, Ohio but relocated to North Carolina as a child with my family.  I spent the better part of my childhood disliking the suburbs and wanting to live in the city.  Now as an adult, married to an amazing husband with two children of our own, I have a great appreciation for the quaintness of a smaller city with a little garden area, and green grass to play in while creating life’s wonderful moments with my daughters.

In 2007 I graduated from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, where I enjoyed many afternoons sitting in a rocking chair on the front porch of my sorority house while studying for that next exam.  I then went on to Elon University, graduating in 2013 with my doctorate in physical therapy.  I spent the next few years working as a pediatric physical therapist, but I quickly realized after having my second child that the calling in my heart to focus on raising my little girls was too much to deny.

Over the past several years I have developed an inclination toward the pure and simple in life, from home grown and organic foods to wooden baby toys.  I opt for glass instead of plastic when I can.  And I embrace quality over quantity in an attempt to de-clutter my life just a bit.
